COURSE OVERVIEW

Both as a community and as individuals, we are travelers through this world, on a journey towards Allah (SWT), constantly striving to remain on the straight path (Tareeq Al-Istiqamah).

Indeed, that is My Path—perfectly straight. So follow it and do not follow other ways, for they will lead you away from His Way. This is what He has commanded you, so perhaps you will be conscious ˹of Allah˺.” (Qur’an 6:153)
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

Istiqamah literally means to go straight in the right direction, act righteously and stand firm and steadfast, with no deviation, to establish something. Understanding the essence of the path – through the Islamic worldview, how to remain steadfast on this path, and how to align all facets of our lives with this path will lead to god-centeredness, strength, resilience, firmness in truth, and ultimately success as individuals, community and the Muslim Ummah.

This is the mainstream that will set the stage for the convention theme. It is where the concepts around the understanding of the path of Allah (SWT) and istiqamah, will be established and defined, across all spheres of our lives.

Indeed, it is the purpose of every Muslim to worship Allah (SWT), be ambassadors of truth, and be agents of change towards a better world, according to what pleases Allah (SWT). Thriving in the Path of Allah (SWT) includes being active agents of spreading the word of Truth.

This stream will focus on da’wah as an active agent of thriving in the path of Allah (SWT). Topics include Islam Awareness, the role of Muslims in mainstream society, and how to connect the current Canadian realities to our role as da’ees.
